The Last of the Mohicans

When I started reading this forum, it was a thriving community.  I was honored when I was asked to contribute to this place.

 

I look around now, and it seems that my fellow moms have deserted me.  I am abandoned, alone.

 

 

In recent weeks I've also noticed that I have trouble coming up with suitable topics for this forum.    My children are college students now, with lives of their own away from home. My blog topics, in my personal blog, deal with my life as a pseudo-empty-nester.

 

I think it's time to throw in the towel.  I can't keep this place going all on my own.  Time to call it a day and move on to other things.

 

Of course, I'll still be blogging over at Songbird's Crazy World.  That blog is about life in general, not just about parenting issues.  You're all welcome to join me there.  Hope to see you soon!

another "first"

I knew the day would come eventually.

 

Jen won't be home for Mother's Day.  Too much schoolwork, 3 papers due next week.  When she told me she couldn't come home, I told her she needed to take care of those papers and I'd see her the following weekend.

 

I won't be entirely bereft, Becca will be home.  And I'll be with my parents and my sisters.  

 

But there will be an empty spot at our table.

 

There is a picture somewhere, from Mother's Day in 1991...my grandmother, my mother, myself, and my baby daughter Jennifer.  Four generations at the celebration.

 

We lost my grandmother when Jen was in kindergarten.

 

And nowmy baby won't be home either.
