You may remember that Amigo, my eighteen-year-old, is blind. You might also remember that we have been searching for a cell phone. We also needed to switch to a new provider because our current provider was having issues (such as no service in important locations such as Home and Lambeau Field). To switch to a new provider, we had to wait for Chuck's phone plan to expire so we didn't get a large cancellation fee...
Deep breath. Deep sigh. Now, the next chapter:
Chuck's plan contract ran out. Yeah!
We found out that Verizon had plans that worked for us and the good reviews that made us think they'll meet our needs well.
We found a phone that worked for Amigo, had voice activation software, and had buttons that he could actually feel (try it sometime; most phones have flat keypads).
Now La Petite and I were ready. She wanted a smartphone. So did I. There was a sign in the window advertising a 2 for 1 deal on Blackberries: Great, right?
Nope. The Blackberries were not compatible with my hearing aids.
I ended up with a Droid. Darn. Such a sacrifice; to have a better phone than my teenager. Snicker. Snort.
It's about time!
imagine that, actually having a better phone than your teenager!!! can't wiat to find out how that feels. I've got a voyager but am looking for something new. you must tell me how you like the Droid, I am thinking of getting one. My girls have Blackberries and will never go to another phone -- they are enamored of blackberry messenger.

I think it's great that Amigo found a phone he can work with, or feel with, as it were. . . and that you found one to work with your hearing aids. This is great progress!

We are going to get Abe a phone also this summer. He said to me that he does NOT want a smart phone, just a very simple one. Great idea in my mind. Now, I just hope that he'll keep it charged up!
