Last weekend my baby girl went on a little vacation to Cape Cod with her boyfriend's family and another family, She had the time of her life. I drove down to collect her and she was so sad to leave, but we had things that couldn't be missed to do, and so home she went.
She brought me a bunch of shells and some beach rocks. I love both shells and the smooth rocks we have on our New England beaches. So swset and such a thoughtful present. I immediately added them to the display on the window sill behind the sofa where they look beautiful and will always remind me of how my heart tugged while she was gone and how happy I was to see her when she got home.
She called 2 or 3 times a day, every day, to keep my apprised of everything she ate, every game she played on the rainy days, every thing she bought and her boyfriend bought for her, and a general report of the day. They went to P-town twice, and she had a blast there. She loved all the little shops, especially the many jewelery shops, and she had so much fun describing all the men in their short shorts. We don't see that much of the costumed gay guys in our small city. But she's lived in the Bay Area, so she wasn't wide-eyed as much as amused by the clothing. She's worldly, my kid.
While she was gone her brother got a lot of attention, which he craves. His behavior was moderately better and he spent a lot of time hanging around chatting with me. Because he was more pleasant than usual, and he also worked a couple of days painting Ora's house, he was much less stressful than usual, and that was greatly appreciated.
I'm glad my baby is back, but I'm also thrilled that we got through this first vacation away from home with so much grace for the whole family.
She brought you shells and stones; any beach glass? There's something about sea glass/ beach glass that's really special.

Oh, that's really nice. I'm almost looking forward to my daughter leaving for college, cuz I know she'll miss things that she now has no idea she might miss. Hopefully, including me.
Great post.
