If I do say so myself, I'm a fairly accomplished needle-woman. I can knit, crochet and sew
(although not extremely complicated patterns).
I do needlepoint and cross-stitch
and I make decorated (religious) head coverings.
I learned to knit and needlepoint from my Mom.
And she learned (at least knitting) from her mom. And so forth.
But while Rosie has often shown an interest in knitting and various types of needlework, the only time that she ever followed through on it is when she took an after-school class on sewing.
So I certainly wasn't expecting anything when I went to a crafts store looking for a cross-stitch pattern for me to work on as a wedding present. But, surprise of surprises, while I'm perusing the patterns, Rosie says that she wants to make a small cross-stitch herself!! And then I'm even more surprised when, later that afternoon, she has already started working on the first one!
And she finished it in almost no time and then started working on the second little one (Piglet). And she finished that one, too!! Amazing! She even has started (is making good progress) on one that I bought to make (myself) for a friend! Cross-stitch is her craft! (at least for now)
awesome! it's so fun to watch them find something that rocks their world (at least momentarily!)

At least for now -- so true! Well, she'll have the skill if she decides to come back to it when she's an adult.

Whether she knows it or not, your modelling had something to do with this. And how fun that she's found something she enjoys. Maybe, once she's decided she's a competant needle-woman, she'll move onto different crafts. One never knows!
