Rosie wanted to have a birthday party. She had turned 15 a few weeks ago and wanted to celebrate with a bunch of her friends. But what should she do? More importantly, what would Mom let her do, and with how many people? (Especially since Rosie is always of the "the more, the merrier" point-of-view.
We finally agreed that she could take a bunch of friends out for ice cream. But how many? Well, how many do you want to invite? (I don't know) When she made out her list, it a) was a reasonable number of people and b) it was all girls from the private school that she had gone to last year. She had made a cake and taken it into homeroom as a way to celebrate at school and now she wanted to get together with these old friends, most of whom she didn't see very often.
(This is a small! Pretty large, isn't it?)
So we had a gaggle of giggling girls sitting (and standing and moving) around and enjoying each other.
They were having so much (and behaving nicely, if a little loud), that another mother came up to me and said that it was so nice to see girls enjoying each other.
And it was!
And Rosie had a great time and everyone had fun and the ice cream was great! Sometimes, just sometimes, events happen perfectly and everyone is happy ever after.
That's a nice post, and Happy Birthday to your daughter.
