Here at Mid-Century Modern Moms, we're having a party!
Yes, this week, all of us oldie moms are celebrating the blogoversary of this venerable site. An entire year of the horror stories of parenting teens. *shudder*
I, of course, am the new kid on the block, only being around as a writer here for the last couple of months. But I have been a reader since its inception.
Anyway, if it's a party, you have to have cake, right? Only it was a little difficult to explain to the Roo-girl why we should make a cake and I should shoot photos -- because the little miss does. not. know. about. my. blog (or this one).
Ah, I told her, why do you need an excuse to make a cake? The only excuse you need is because you want to eat it!
She bought that excuse. Must be related to me.
And so we begin ...
(please notice my favorite refrigerator adornment on the upper right of the photo: "Thou Shalt Not Whine." It's my favorite saying, but it doesn't work. Sigh)
Stir stir stir the batter, gently down the stream:
Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a batter it is ...
Yes, she DID lick the whisk. Oh well.
She really does hate posing for the camera, doncha think? And the cake doesn't look too bad either!
OK, here's where we have major holes in our photo story.
The cake was cooling. We both went our separate ways for a bit. When I came back to her to frost the cake, she looked a little sheepish.
"Um ... I did it already."
Nooooo. You did? But I didn't get to take a picture.
"I wanted cake!!!!!!!"
Yes, she frosted and ATE the cake before I had a chance to take its picture.
You can never have too much cake.
Re-enactment for purposes of closure.
And happy blogoversary to all of us!
You're right, there's never a wrong time for cake! Lately I've made several pumpkin pies because it's something DeBoy will actually EAT.

So funny!! She must have waited just long enough for the cake to cool so the frosting didn't stick.
