Rosie has her learner's permit to drive. When she had just gotten it, she was begging me to let her drive. Now that I've done that a few times, she's a little more scared of the process.
"This isn't as easy as I thought it would be." No duh. There's a reason for all of the classes and practice.
We started in an almost empty office building parking lot (on a weekend); practicing right and left turns and pulling into a parking space. Can you say wide turns?
But she quickly got better.
Then it was very quiet streets in our old neighborhood. I added backing up to the mix. That's not great yet.
But then, the other night when I picked her up from an event, I drove a little bit and then pulled over to the side of the road. "Chinese fire-drill", I announced and got out of the car. Her first time on a main street- at night (but very well lit) so there wasn't a lot of traffic. This was the fastest she had driven yet- and it wasn't up to the speed limit!!!
