It's home-improvement time in the Planet house.
A fresh coat of cheerful yellow for the family room/dining room/hallways.
Touchups of white for the trim and the stair rails.
And something new for the Roo-girl's room.
She chose her color. It took a looooooooooooong time for her to come to a decision.
Oh my head!
"When are we going to paint my room?" was the constant question for the past year.
"When you pick a color" was the constant reply.
And so ultimately, she did.
Purple. No, not just purple, but PURPLE.
A deep purple that scared me half to death because if even she didn't like it on the walls, she was going to be stuck with it.
And I would be listening to the crabbing for the next 2 1/2 years of her high school career.
So I held my breath when she came home from school on painting day and saw it for the first time.
"OOOHHHHHHHHHH!" she squealed. "I LOVE IT!!!!"
Her room is far from finished. In fact, it looks like a bomb went off in there. Wonderhubby is putting in hardwood floor for her (gotta love a man who can do it himself!), which is half-done, so everything is everywhere.
So there will be no photos today.
But there is a happy girl living down the hall from me.
The first night she slept in her purple room, she looked up at me from under the covers.
"I love it, Mom," she said. "I feel like a princess!"
Ah, life is good.
