He placed the most important items next to his bed: cane, water bottle, tissue box, and (can you see it?) the remote control for his stereo boom box.
He made sure he knew where his shampoo, his soap, and his toothbrush were hanging out.
Eventually, Mom & Dad admitted that their kid was ready to handle his summer school experience all by himself. Mom stopped taking pictures, Dad stopped asking questions, and Amigo joined the others for pizza without even so much as a "Miss you! Take care!"
He did let us hug him, briefly.
















That parental push-pull: you want them to be indepdendent, but you'd like them to at least pretend to miss you! :)
